Letter: Heritage Park Committee formed
To the editor:
Several interested citizens have formed a committee titled Heritage Park Committee.
We desire to preserve and develop vacant lots located on the Mississippi River between Artspace River Lofts and the river, near the Trestle Bridge. Heritage Park would enhance what is already on the levee.
Our vision: This extraordinarily beautiful site on the great Mississippi River in Hastings will become a place to honor — through art and celebration — our diverse heritage and bountiful natural beauty.
We want to give all area residents the opportunity to help design this vision. Should this park include such things as rain gardens to protect the river, monuments to honor ancestors, information about the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area, educational kiosks, Native American art, or what? Please come and join in this effort.
The Heritage Park Committee meets on the third Wednesday of every month from 6:30-8 p.m., at Artspace Lofts. All are welcome. Hope to see you there.
